This could be hinting at a new Gen or a new Unit within Jp skin to Dev_Is. By the looks of the timeframe it could mean that the announcement could be coming at the last quarter of this year. Thoughts?

I like the concept of it becoming a non Idol unit for Hololive. That will be Interesting since alot of Jp fans are screaming to have a seperate division which focus only on gaming or streaming alone. Meh the new JP branch turned out fine, both gens are all doing well and only having 1 member leave so far is good retention. Sure there was some doubt early on, but once the girls showcased their talents then people started to recognize them.

I don’t get why they don’t just build off Gamers, not only are those 4 members some of the top streamers in Hololive but it’s such a wasted opportunity/potential to not grow it by getting more girls who’s focus is more on games. Wouldn’t even really need to get into vspo territory by hiring competitive gamers or anything, but just girls who actually stream game shit frequently and still do music/idol stuff on the side. Idk maybe it’s another clique thing in Hololive, where of course probably Fubuki who didint even start in Gamers wants it to stay as just them 4 with no newcomers

Well there were those 2 girls several years ago that had their designs shown, and people assumed they were gonna be part of Gamers since it was just 2 of them. But they never debuted and Gamers still hasn’t expanded for some reason, like I get Hololive wants to focus on idol stuff but even many current members still prioritize streaming over music stuff. Like Pekora and Miko stream every day and don’t put out music too often, but then you have the other end with ones like Marine and Suisei who don’t stream too often but do make covers and original music regularly.

What was the Niji academy even like, just a training program to get potential people to become future talents? I mean I guess it’s something that makes sense, training people so they hopefully won’t get into drama and know how to stream and shit. But Hololive has been seemingly raw dogging it just fine, with some talents barely knowing how to use obs or creating thumbnails at the start. But I think that adds a lot of genuineness, compared to debuting someone who’s been groomed essentially for the role, and it’s not like Niji has debuted any notable people who took part of their program either. This just seems like yet another waste of time/money/resources etc for Cover lol. Instead of focusing on why so many talents have left so quickly, and will seemingly continue to lose talents this year as well, they are just focusing on replacing the ones who are gone instead of fostering their already established talents.

It just doesn’t make any sense because they created the DEVIS branch as one who is supposed to focus on music/dancing/etc, tho they might as well still be part of the main JP branch lol, so why not return to Gamers and expand that as well. Maybe it’s because Okyau/Korone/Mio all basically joined together as friends and they don’t want to see it expand, that’s the only thing that really makes sense to is that they think of it as their own personal unique part of Hololive.

Niji's academy was founded in response to one of their new hires causing a yab that took out Roa in 2020. It's there to shape nobodies with talent into something passable in a year or two, while filtering menheras and yab people. They also have the benefit of mostly having no PLs prior to niji.

There was a VTA gen 3 that was terminated in training, complained to japanese keemstar while acting like a manchild and the general response was that "the filter is working as intended".

To date, no VTA trainee that debuted in niji have graduated, period. Their most successful male unit yet (oriens & dytica), AND their most successful female unit (idios), are both post-VTA.

Which yeah they did start to pop off once they finally got 3D, but man they were all struggling pretty hard before. It's a shit idea that will ruin hololive.
Niji's VTA goes against the idea of vtubing. By debuting a bunch of recruits, no one gets attached to them because half won't make it in. Additionally, if they debut a bunch of them at once, they won't put in effort into their design or setting. If they "redebut" the ones that make it in as actual members with good designs, it removes the feeling of them being their character.
It works in Nijisanji because almost all of them are boring high school student characters and so most of their designs are uninspired and feel mass produced. That won't work in hololive.

Hololive has always operated the opposite of Niji's "accelerate" strategy by prefering fewer high quality members than a bunch of disposable talent and seeing which get popular.
This is horrible news and it seems like an idea brought on by investor pressure and not what hololive is supposed to be.

Anon most of Council didn't make it to 4 years, Cover had 7 graduations in 2025, and the idea that Hololive talents will stick around for 10 years is completely torched. While I doubt Cover wants to debut hundreds of new talents like Nijisanji they are getting ready for another graduation wave in 2026. Having a larger number of talents allows them the ability to filter out those with insufficient loyalty and it's a cold business decision that Hololive is moving towards a brand focused business model.

Vtubers models are cheap and that is why Nijisanji could make a a huge number of models and let talents choose something they liked. Cover says they want to expand beyond the traditional vtuber idol category and if these new vtubers get big enough they can either move to Hololive Production or debut in a "specialized organization" which is something that hasn't been announced yet. To be fair VOLTACTION as a unit almost has 900K subs and got into the Oricon Domestic Rookie Rankings for album sales (placed 5th) last year. Mechatu-a was one of the first vtuber units to exceed 100K single sales (and half of them are VTA) Among the top 100 SC rankings IDIOS and Voltaction were a good chunk of them. Would really call VTA a failure but there is no 1 million subs among them (only VOLTACTION is the closest) but IDIOS getting a two-day solo live last year as a pretty big achievement for a mid-level popular unit. Hopefully Yoiyome, AYAKAKI, Splare and now Umyami follow suit somehow.

900k subs as a unit is absurdly low for what's supposed to be a top group with high viewership and mindshare.
For comparison, Doki alone has that, and Selen was around that level on her own, too.
