The retarded part I was pointing out in that post is merely the fact that some AI is "generative", which is exactly that - retarded.
There's fuck-all wrong with something being generative, it's the background of where that generative data came from that's the big issue for most people as a huge chunk of it, mostly in the image and video space, was data that was mass copied or literally pirated in some instances.
Not to mention the fact there has been literal illegal content used in those models in some cases, like CP. (definitely to train the models not to generate, right Sammy boy, that guy always gives me the fucking creeps)
In the case of Minecraft, the generative processes used to construct worlds is based on various perlin noise systems as well as hand-crafted assets laid out based on templates (villages, dungeons, etc.)
In the case of Transformers, it's training data used by the ML model to discover the relations and then construct new outputs based on said relations, being seeded by nothing but random noise.
Both generative.
Even in the case of Minecraft, the potential for theft is there as well - you could feed a voxelized version of a game world in to a generator and create worlds based on, say, Disney IPs, Harry Potter, LotR, etc.
They'd be none too happy to see you do that, but it is entirely possible too. It's not even hard to make a voxelizer to to that, I even made a 2D version of the same concept where you scan over an image and create bounding boxes to use for some other later stage, quite easy to do.
