>>109456609>They've done things I disliked a bit in the past but this is the first time ever they managed to disappoint me.For me personally, it's more that they no longer do things I like. On an unrelated note, here's a quote from two random girls talking about idols.
>But nowadays I feel like that kind of gimmick isn't there anymore. It's a bit sad, we like the gimmicks.>If they had a gimmick, they'd lose it very soon. Right. I want them to stick to it. Every Holo has some kind of gimmick. And that's what your initial fans will see and what they will be there for. And if you drop that gimmick without either giving new stuff that's just as good or better, understandably, the people who supported you in the beginning will be upset and might leave.
By the way this is key for ALL relationships, not just parasocial ones. If there's something someone likes about you and then you stop doing that thing, it's a recipe for disaster. Nerissa stopped singing and doing karaokes and look how that worked out.
So what was FUWAMOCO's gimmick? Was it that they were twin streamers? No because as other people pointed out they rarely stream apart and all the thoughts of one streaming to cover the other never really came to fruition.
Was it that they were great singers? No, they're not standout singers by a long shot, unlike say Nerissa who can wow anyone who hears her for the first time as she has unmistakable talent and training.
Was it that they were retro and VN streamers? Kind of but not really. If you look at their first year, they really didn't play that many retro and VNs compared to everything else. We had Sakura Wars, DKC, Zelda, and MGS, but they also played a LOT of horrorslop and one offs, and also they still haven't finished Zelda or Sakura Wars. If anything, their past lives did a lot more VN and retro games.
So what was FUWAMOCO's gimmick? It was consistency. It was reliability. Now it's a sad state of affairs that just that alone can make you stand out in Holo EN, but that's another matter entirely.
FUWAMOCO sold themselves on being streamers who streamed a lot and did schedules. They were on time. Every stream started 5 minutes before the hour and on the hour they were there and streaming. There were minimal cancellations, scuff, technical issues, and that made them stand out among EN which was just coming off a tremendous drought thanks to the combined (lack of) efforts in Myth and Council.
So now everyone who was attracted to FUWAMOCO in the beginning because of their reliability, consistency, and professionalism, is understandably perturbed because now we get weeks with maybe 2-3 streams, weeks with no streams, tons of cancellations, streams at absurd hours like 4 in the morning on a weekday, and it sucks. As these two random girls even said themselves, they like it when idols stick to their gimmick. And FUWAMOCO have not stuck to theirs.
