Sana didn't want to be a sexy waifu and it's obvious she asked Cover for a model redesign and they gave her a firm no. A lot of the EN talents were cynical towards management after her graduation and that likely did give them second thoughts about Hololive. Also her experience burned her out so badly that it's baffling even for a corpo bootlicker to claim that she constantly shows up when she has never even used a Live2D model (until the Nimi concert which is over 3.5 years after her graduation).

She left Hololive after a single year, her RM has used a bird PNG for over 3.5 years, and later EN gens were given creative input on their designs (which indicates some heated contract disputes).

Sana graduated 3 and a half years ago so if I'm being generous, she got into hololive on friend connections and then realized vtubing was a full time job. Choosing then to retreat back to her previous gig of drawing characters for chinese gatchya. And with 3 years between then and now she's willing to give it another shot. If I was being cynical it's because the market for "100k to draw us a png" has dried up since china can just use AI for their sloppa games, so she's possibly regretting passing up on a more stable career as a vtuber now that market conditions have changed.

It's more that she's fine doing a one-off thing with some friends but she's not gonna turn it into a career.

Not at all. Being an indie in the music industry can just as much mean making an indie-coded music or being signed to a small independent label. In music terms anyone who's not a part of Hololive/Nijisanji/Brave Group is an indie artist
