I can't remember the name of the guy who said it, but he made a scathing critique in that conservatism always barks at the latest moral innovation but always concedes in the final discussion. It complains incessantly, conserves nothing, and ends up adopting that which years ago it said was a moral harm.
People say it's "good winning out" but what it really is is conservative moral weakness and cowardice. Just look at how many trannies are in the GOP establishment as they go on to then say "trans rights bad" or how many conservative women still support abortion even though this should be a direct affront to their moral positions. Conservatives have conserved exactly nothing since Lincoln established them. They always concede every single time. Always.
