That wasn't really nijisanji's fault either, in stalker cases like that you basically have to play up the victim angle if you want to win the case otherwise the Japan legal system does fuck all.
So the common speculation for her is that she just hated that requirement and wanted to be able to stream without breaks. And streaming with a model is more expensive and limited anyways, and her real self is semi-niche-famous so might as well use her actual face. Since she's in the entertainment industry anyways, no point in not doing it this way.
Era was always a piece of shit though, so her doing something stupid and retarded isn't surprising.
