Considering NijiEn3 debut went up against HoloEn collab that had fairly solid numbers of CCV. I think they did fairly well despite only hitting close to previous gen debut numbers.

The 14k debut waiting room had about 5k drop when holoen DBD collab started. That's 1/3 of the live viewers. That's a significant share of viewers that floats between NijiEn and HoloEn especially if you consider most NijiEn is around 2k to 1k range for solo CCV and HoloEn is around 13k to 2k range in solo CCV (factoring out their top talents like Gura & Selen).

The numbers might seem like NijiEn is stagnating or reclining but in context of holoen collab running in parallel, there is some growth even if it's not particularly significant.

They learned their lesson from Q2 when they straight up left Kuzuha off the rankings and put Fuwa in there instead.

Eh, I'd put Gura on the same tier as Pekora. CCV isn't everything and Gura does crush Pekora in certain categories, especially song views. Songs are a huge part of Hololive so I am including song views and music prowess in this list. Hololive tier go like this (at least for the top tier)

SS: Pekora, Marine, Gura
S: Miko, Suisei, Mori
A: Subaru, Aqua, Ayame, Korone

I think this list is extremely fair when you consider everything (CCV, VOD, Subs, Music)

I think the main thing that makes the NijiEN numbers shocking is how different they are from the NijiJP numbers. NijiJP and HoloJP put up some huge numbers for big events. The difference between the EN branches is that HoloEN puts up numbers just as big as HoloJP when it comes to events but NijiEN doesn't even come close to NijiJP. Interesting dynamic in how much the overall fanbases of each have accepted the EN branches.

Most vtubers, even the most musically inclined Holos and Nijis, don't spam them since they are big investments.
At this point, I think every Holo who isn't a complete meme singer has at least 1 original song, which is huge (Miko has 3 original songs).
Regardless, music is a big part of Hololive seeing as 80% of their big 3D events are 3D lives and most of them do karaokes.
Just because some members are more successful in music doesn't make it not a big deal for the company.

You know, contrary to many schizos here, I feel that collab ban might be a genius move on Cover's part actually. You see, the one month period where a gen have only themselves to collab with, they can explore a bunch of thing like what contents they will make, what personality they will take to attract more audience and how to act with your collab partners. This way, both streamers and audience can get to know each other better, and those audience can form a stronger attachment to the streamers as well. That's why you see Hololive members have more hardcore fanbase than Nijisanji. Nijisanji, on the other hand, is more individual base so they don't need the collab ban. But unless you're a JP member, most Niji streamers don't enjoy the same attachment like Hololive members, especially like HoloEN.

Personally, I think the collab ban for Council has not been very effective. Some of the girls literally can't stream themselves and prefer to crash minecraft streams. Fauna in particular has been on break for a large part of it and she herself said that she prefers crashing minceraft collabs.

I don't even watch NijiJP, but they are extremely diverse, much moreso than Hololive. They have FPS gamers, uwu lolis, idols, musicians, ASMR specialists, artists, horror enthusiasts, weirdos...etc.
In fact, one of the reason their numbers are bad is because many of them have niches that don't appeal to the masses or are just specialists in their field but not good streamers.

I'm not for or against a collab ban, but the lack of a collab ban does not mean they have to do collabs all the time.
Everything you mentioned could have happened in any of the 3-4 solo streams they do in between collabs with senpais.

The argument for collab bans is you might be upstaged by your senpai so hard you become an accessory to them.
NijiEN doing a watchalong for debuts is a good idea for entertainment, but as someone who was watching both streams, the commentary was so much funnier than the new girls scrolling through slides that I forgot their debuts almost right after they finished.
I wouldn't say it was a bad idea, but I don't think that was the effect they were intending to have.

Mito is the only Niji you can argue is actually popular in that group of OGs, while Hologen 3 is obviously the most successful holoJP gen.
Keep in mind, the Nijisanji concert was announced during Mito's 3D concert which peaked around 40k CCV, while the Holofantasy concert was announced at the end of a stream that peaked at 94k CCV.

Yes, Nijisanji does have a twitter topic and twitter numbers don't mean much since they don't translate to numbers on other platforms, but the difference is just insane considering reality.
Pekora gets 28k people to watch her streams live on a random tuesday, whereas all those Nijis combined together can't get 48k together.

nigga my statemnt is regrding getting new people into watcing vtubes and how spaming waves is NOWa mistake since as you say and i said, only the STILL popular ones will get advertised.
Vtubers at the end are prodcuts, cant just keep flooding a market with few variations and expecting this not to become less effective. is part of why a lot of nijis relcined this past year but a few inclined beyond most expectations also. Becoming so top heavy is not a good idea in the long run.

But it's moreso a sign of how normie Niji is locally, since japs are addicted to twitter. Nijifans probably spend more time on twitter than watching streams, seeing as a few Nijis like Mayuzumi and Fuwa had more followers than subs until recently.

In Kuzuha's case, getting attention from Hikakin when he reached 1 mil (Hikakin liked and left a reply) likely brought a lot of attention from normie nips that have heard of him, but will never watch or sub to him. But hey, it's a celebratory event so why not leave a like?

The problem with Holo twitter numbers is their followers don't engage, either because tweets don't get funneled to them or they don't appeal enough to JP normies.
There are a lot of Holos that have more twitter followers than Kuzuha, but they get 1/5th the engagement.

Holos have the most followers on twitter, with 2-3 over 1 mil, when Kuzuha has by far the most for a Niji and he has 780k.
Kenmochi has less than 500k followers, but his tweets get more likes and retweets than Marine who has 1 mil followers.
It doesn't make sense unless Cover is doing something wrong with how they market on twitter.

If you're advertising a song cover or event, it's literally free advertising and funnels viewers to those videos/events.
It's amazing that Holos are doing better than Nijis while underperforming so much on advertising on twitter.
The numbers could be actually higher if Cover wasn't too cheap to pay for a topic.

there is nothing weak is just the topic doing the heavy lifting and being for long there, but as it has been shown niji gets more engament than views many times. is not worth paying for that regularly and it doesnt seem to bring new people so it is an advertisment tool with iffy results.

I'm ignorant on this since I barely use twitter but where do you get recommended tweets by an algorithm on twitter? When looking at a hashtag? Because aside from that it's not like you get random recommendations in your timeline.

If you like a lot of FGO fanart, eventually the "Fate Grand/Order" topic will be recommended to you for you to follow. If you follow it, you'll see new, popular FGO fanart from artists you don't follow on your frontpage every day.
Nijisanji has a topic for Nijisanji, but Kuzuha has his own topic too, as well as many other Nijis.

Since one of the biggest advantage of Hololive is their lively clipping community, is there a way to convert them into Niji clippers? Or even possible to convert them?
If any of the big clippers changes to clipping Nijisanji then they might be able to catch up to Holo globally.

Ofc it started with Hololive going viral to start the inital momentum, but at this point, the marketing machine runs itself at this point.

If a clipper switches to clipping Nijisanji, their holo-only viewers will either ignore their niji clips or even abandon them because unless your editing quality is top notched, who cares who the clipper is?

Neko Mikuri is a good clipper who used to clip Holos a lot more often, but he's been hired by the Anycolor to clip and sub on the main channel.
Look at the difference number of views on his older Holo clips and his Niji clips.

NTA but he isn't obligated to exclusively do Niji clips and the work he officially does for them ends up on the main Niji channel is what I thought. His personal channel reflects more the preference of him and/or his audience since he also puts up polls for what to clip fairly often.

His output has slowed down because of his professional obligations which led to him being less favoured by the algorithm.
The meta is now 1-2 min short clips too which does not mesh well with his editing style.

Yeah, for a reference of that phenominon in action, look at Yametekudasubs. They went from being a hololive moments replacement to subbing random indies and nijis, and they ended up cratering as a result.

They debuted with a big splash and was supposed to be Hololive moment's replacement, but that didn't pan out because most of them preferred to keep subbing on their own channels rather than fully focus on the YKS channel, and also because they started branching out to other indies instead of staying with hololive.
