>>1114180Because David Hayter gave an incredibly shit performance in MGS4. When he failed to sound good in PW as well, they dropped him. It didn't help that voice actor guild laws say you have to give a VA more money every time you use them, such that Hayter legitimately would have been just as expensive as Kiefer.
Furthermore, Hayter tried to fight it. Tried to get the job back by appealing to fans. But nobody took it seriously because they thought it was a ruse. People were like "Kiefer is going to voice Venom and then Solid will come in at the end and he'll be voiced by Hayter. Kojima is such a trickster". So there was no strong reaction against the decision and people just went with it.
