Even if I don't like the game personally, SM64 was one of the most perfect transitions to 3D in history. The core game loop is what made it an instant classic.
SotC is extremely repetitive. Almost every Colossus is the same; You go to it, climb it's fur and stab the weak spot. There were only a handful of colossi that were interesting.
With Mario64, you go to a world and you get presented with multiple unique challenges. There's so much more for the streamer to experience.

Both are about equally overrated, but Mario Sunshine is much higher rated by the average gamer than SotC. Sunshine is a pretty good game.
