This. This goes for Gura and Ame (and Calli possibly, I don't watch her), but it's been a year and their Japanese hasn't improved at all.
By studying 10 words/day through Anki you can get to about 900 kanji in 3 months, 3500 in a year. That's all the kanji you'll ever need. Add a vocab deck for composite words, learn up to N4 grammar, and that's all the JP you'll need to communicate at an OK level. It's literally no more than 3 hours a day.
I hold the JPs to the same standard as well; many of them expressed interest in learning English but very few are actually trying to improve
