I'll give them a pass. Gen 5 had it unbelievably bad since not only did they have a genmate graduate immediately which dampened the mood around them for awhile, you also had HoloMyth suddenly popping out of nowhere and just smashing records. They pretty much got kneecapped. I'm just glad that everyone has kinda found their niche. If nothing else, Gen 5 probably has the best chemistry (not the meme one either) in all of Hololive and one of the best in all of vtubing.

I wonder whats gonna happen to NijiEN once their roster starts hovering around 19-20 chuubas like ID and KR. Let's say that they never find that one Mito or Kuzuha level talent, which is actually more likely given that ID's top star Hana was wave 1 and KR's ace Bora was wave 3 (she should honestly be considered as wave 1 with the shitshow that happened when Anykara first entered the KR market). So, assuming that Selen is literally their only popular chuuba and with even Finana and Pomu hovering around 500-800 CCV with overlap and/or debuff games. I can't imagine how much more they can divide a 15k audience without hovering into 2view territory. For reference, Lyrica can usually pull around 200-300 as an indie. If in 3-4 months she starts hovering around 1k CCV with wave 4 coming in, then I'm not sure if graduating and joining a corpo was worth the hassle.

is too much of a gamble and it hasn't really worked out for NijiEN besides perhaps Selen and Pomu to an extent.
They're gonna sabotage themselves slow and steady.
As for Lyrica she is probably still in a better position for now, short termed, though it may be limited and is highly dependent on how much the others in the branch will cannibalize their own viewership

Any of the bigger indies are gonna really have to weigh their options moving forward. NijiEN looks to be good if you were a literal 2view or hovering at the edge of triple digit viewership, but if you're starting to get bigger than that you're probably better off staying as an indie or trying for Hololive instead.

I would say both Miko and Suisei are aces in gen 0 in different 'fields'. Miko is the streaming ace, and suisei is the singing ace, both compliment each other well and have different focuses, so its not really even a competition as much as they cover each other's weaknesses, unlike pekomiko, whose similar streaming styles caused them to fall out with each other.

What is even the point for Anykara to just spam a bunch of ENs that will become 1k CCV streamers? An individual can live off of 1k CCV, but where's the profit for a big corporation in all of this mess? Seems like their cut would just amount to peanuts for a real business, and the cost is the devaluation of their entire brand. For example, Hololive generation debuts are monster events with huge hype because they're fucking rare and everyone wants to see who made the cut from the thousands of applicants, what their talents are, etc. whereas Niji has already made their debuts mundane. Someone with influence at Nijisanji is fucking up badly, and really has already screwed the pooch. HoloEN is like Major League Baseball. The highest level you could possibly achieve in your field with all the glory that comes along with it. However, if you couldn't make it to the MLB you might elect to instead play in the KBO (Korea) or NPB (Japan) baseball leagues. While not on the level of the MLB those are still high level and very respectable pro leagues. That would be the equivalent of NijiEN. The doom posters need to stop, lol.

Blaming Holo's collab doesn't make sense either seeing that's their peak numbers, not median. Holo's collab already ended near the end of 2nd debut - if anything, Holo's collab funneled ~1k viewers towards each streams (the debut and the program streams) after the collab ended.

I'm thinking that if Wave 3 can't stabilize and incline into Wave 4, maybe it would be a better idea to move the branch wholesale over to twitch and attempt to own that ecosystem instead. I mean from a business perspective it makes sense. Despite how they have performed so far (no where near HoloEN) they are still the biggest threat HoloEN has due to the money that AnyColor has. Why give then any kind of free exposure?

And before somebody brings up that HoloJP and NijiJP collab all the time, that much should be obvious. Both companies are on much more equal footing in Japan so nobody is really getting more exposure than they would normally get when they collab with each other.

Its so weird. Its not like IRyS isn't popular. Her streams do quite well and she has only gotten stronger as the time goes on and has even developed quite a following here of all places. Her karaoke streams in particular do very well. Yet her music underperforms which is weird since people obviously really enjoy her singing from how well her karaoke does. Personally for me her voice just doesn't have a lot of impact. I'm not talking about powerful voice like Suisei or the likes of Fuji Aoi, but even Sora's idol-ish voice is better since she has good singing technique. I think their strategy was bad. 10 girls before a single male. Nijisanji should lean on their strengths, not other company's strengths. What works in Japan can work here, the waves should have been mixed. I think the only path forward is the males. They have stiff competition though, the male market might be zero too. The question isn't whether Niji makes money or not on their strategy. Their investment in each vtuber they debut is so low that it's nearly impossible for them to be losing money on one. All evidence points to Niji inclining and holo declining, such as the baseball tourney numbers in comparison to 2020 and hololive overall lower viewership compared to 2020.

Honestly?
They're nice and solid songs, but unfortunately none of them really 'stand out' in any way, and that hurts in getting them out for people to listen to them.
Meanwhile, compare them to Suisei's originals, which are far more energetic and have something that hooks you and. She also promotes her songs better, or at least from what I can tell.

As a sheepbro, I've been thinking about it a lot too, and it isn't promotion, because she promotes them any chance she gets, but the other 2 issues which were mentioned.
The first issue is that a lot of them don't stand out much, or aren't memorable.
I heard Holidays 4 times in the first 2 days and couldn't remember a single note.
It's a nice song and video, but sounds like 100 other anime EDs out there.

The 2nd being oversaturation, as any time one gets a bit of traction, another MV drops and takes most of its views.

I think her most catchy song this year has been "sweet night, sweet time", with it's instantly recognizable beginning hook and funky chorus, but it got sandwiched by other more topical songs and stuck at 200k views for months.
Possible that people don't like the MV either, but that's personal preference.

There is also the 3rd and it's an issue with the watamates.
That Watame's audience mostly watch for the late night chill stream vibes and to hang out and talk, don't listen to songs that much.
Her audience retention is very high and vod views aren't exceptional which means that it's a smaller and dedicated fanbase, than let's say Mori who gets lower avg viewers but way higher peaks and vod views, meaning there's a lot more people who can come back and replay the songs.
