I know, I don't really like it since is so hard to keep track of most people since I believe there's close 200 members in Niji. Part of me wanted to believe they wouldn't do it with EN but they did. I just feel bad for the new members because they would need to REALLY stand out, more than usual, to keep a good following.

reserving rough-diamond talents in advance isnt a bad business strategy. my take is that any colour has done that in the west. they tend to gather genuine weebs. also talents like the high skilled apex gamer, the vtubers who are very fluent in japanese are actually who cover wants. you need to analyze it from a long-term view. cover actually couldnt have a skilled japanase speaker in gen 3 whereas any colour had petra in gen 2. cover is a bit too much care about vtubers with "extra talent" like of drawing, singing, asmring, etc.

imo, cover seems to avoid the grass root or "ghetto" weeb vtubers. they might not be sophisticated enough to be "special" in the commercial vtuber market at this point but instead they are closer to us and have a long term potential. niji en is actually much more otakuish and weeby than holo en.

like i said, it seems cover cares a bit too much about "non-vtuber" talents for the "for everyone" market and downplay normal weeb/geek ghetto stuff or trends. indies arent professional. like in the music industry, talented indie musicians arent always super good from the beginning.
