>>11295558This board is mostly holo only viewers who discovered streaming with Hololive and naturally have a huge bias, often going about "twitch culture "western whores" and such after they checked 2 clips of Vshoujo and a hot tub stream and concluded this was all twitch was about.
Youtube works fine for big corpos, but is a dead end for indies and even small corpos.
For twitch, for what it does well:
- Discoverability : actual vtuber tag, very accurate recommendations of other vtubers based on the ones you watch. Built-in easy clip system to share a nice moment to other people.
- Networking : built-in tools like raids, they're really not as bad as people here think, most people use those well with similar number vtubers, it's honestly a very good tool, raids are always welcomed warmly. Also your emotes are usable in other people chat which surprisingly get people to check a channel when they have very good emotes.
- Sub (membership) gifting : can simply be as thanks, but also work to get people to check that vtuber they got a sub to
- Far better chat : it's not even close, the tools available with twitch chat both for moderation and users as well as bots integration are just really good
- Redeems : hit or miss, but if you use them well it can be pretty fun, it rewards people watching a lot with fun perks basically, up to the stream to decide what
- no actual DMCA strikes, unlike Youtube you don't actually risk losing your channel for using copyrighted stuff, your VOD will just have that part muted
In term of downsides :
- VODs deleted after a while if you don't highlight them (however easy to use youtube as an archive)
- New streamers don't have quality option for a short time, you get it once affiliated wich takes like a week or so
- No good scheduling option
That's about it, if you have a big pre-existing fanbase and network like corpos Youtube works fine, however if you're an indie Twitch is just a far better choice with minor drawbacks. There is a reason many end up making the move after a while.
Also for people who believe "Twitch culture" is a thing for small streamers you read too much narratives in this board, just like youtube every small streamer is its own culture, twitch or youtube doesn't matter for that. It's fine to like a site more but that narrative is just retarded.
Oh and also numbers, if you like them, twitch numbers are accurate unlike youtube.
