>>11506231i believe she redid her audio settings from scratch when she got the new PC and that they are different in several ways. her compressor behaves very differently after that switch (i'd argue worse). i think she's also slightly changed her compressor, noise gate, and EQ here and there several times periodically.
as for whether acoustic treatment would affect it, not directly, no, but indirectly, that would make a lot of sense. the main motivation for acoustic treatment would be to kill room echo, motivated by wanting a more distant mic placement. with a cardioid mic like hers, getting closer to it raises low frequencies, and getting farther from it makes them quieter. she's also explicitly mentioned using her mic at a more distant placement than the recommended one. if she wanted to approximate the same tone from a closer placement, she'd have to put EQ on it, which would inevitably sound at least a little different from the natural proximity effect.
overall i strongly disagree that any of this is a significant contributor to the difference in how she sounds now compared to a year ago, which i think is much more that she is actually speaking differently, with a lower more relaxed pitch and usually more quietly.
