>>11566952it's hitting a lul as far as growth and attention to new vtubers. however sub counts for those in the top 10 are still STACKING on. View counts for Kuzuha and Peko are still climbing.
In every sector of commerce there is a bubble and burst, I think we saw a bubble of new vtubers and that popped around Niji EN2, since then newer debuts have been getting less eyes.
Meanwhile viewers are funneling to the best of the best, not completely shedding off into other hobbies, so I think there's still growth overall.
Once we see Pekora on the decline I think it's safe to say we've hit a lull and it will take a new face or radically new tech for that to change.
My guess? We need a VR platform which becomes widely adopted. The price point is pretty much there already.
What needs to happen is mainstream western influencers and famous people, like movie stars etc., need to jump on board. If you had Kim Kardashian doing VR house tours or online VR parties in something a little more family friendly, but functionally the same as VR Chat, then you'd see VR in like every house.
Once VR is mainstream, and we get a VR youtube equivalent, you'll see Vtubers explode again.
Short of that, there could just be a breakout star. Maybe once codemiko starts selling her tech to others? It's not new tech but it's certainly way more impressive than 99% of the vtubers out there. The face tracking alone really make's it so great.
