What was she supposed to do? They don't have any say on their first model, so it is unreasonable to expect her to go "Oh no, please don't give me the owl aspects, because.... there's already this other pre-established bird group, and me having a bird theme would make people artificially slot me in with them, and I wouldn't want to make things pretty arkward for them, so....".
In coming up with her design, Cover simply didn't give a fuck about thinking about Holotori already existing and what it would mean for their group dynamics, shit like that simply isn't on their radar at all.
And Mumei herself, for all her other "faults", has been very reserved about being included in Holotori, she never once pushed it hard from her side (basically not mentioning it much at all, only replying occasionally when prompted by chat etc. so if you want to blame someone, blame the collab-beggars in the comments at least), she never forced herself into it, because she herself knows she's the new one and doesn't want to step on anyones toes by demanding to be included in a preexisting group. So don't hate on her herself for something she's not really at fault for.
