That honestly just seems to be Nijisanji's strategy in general. If we assume that they give the chuubas their initial model and other assets needed for streaming, and then since they don't give salaries they have no further need to spend any money after the debut, but they get a cut of any future profit the chuubas makes, then their cost per chuuba must be ridiculously low and is a one time investment.

Why in the world would any talented ID chuuba look at Niji ID and then at Holo ID, and then want to get into Niji ID instead of Holo ID? I'm not saying she isn't good. There is an argument to be made that she is the "best streamer", in the technical sense, in the roster.
But to have almost 6 times the CCV of any other Holos currently streaming playing fucking Minecraft, alone, not in a collab or having an event or gimmick.
I just don't see why.

That’s always the goal same way Sora Marsuri etc laid the ground work for later gens, which in turn set myth up for success. It seems to play into the imposter syndrome the girls feel when they have huge success while their predecessors don’t have their numbers. I wonder if Cover doesn’t increase salaries or divert a percentage of their cut to the early gens. A small but meaningful redistribution would keep old talents happy while being a minimal sacrifice for new talents. It might even alleviate their guilt for leaving their seniors in the dust numbers wise.

One has to wonder how Wave 3 is handling this seeming lack of growth for their branch. Pomu and Rosemi have already alluded their worries about number so I'm sure some if not all of the members of the new wave are having those thoughts creep in from time to time. Also, there's no way they can completely ignore Council. Seeing a former 2view like Bae draw more than all of them combined has got to sting somewhat. I can only imagine what happens if ID3 mogs them too which won't neccasarily be hard to accomplish.

I'm actually surprised at how well Gura and Mori have embraced the Senpai role. That DBD Collab between Kronii and Gura was one of the funniest streams I've listened to in awhile. Also, just an observation but based on the few inter-wave collabs that I've watched from NijiEN, I really don't feel a sense of the Senpai-Kouhai dynamic from them? Is that normal in Nijisanji as a whole or is it more to do with the fact that they debuted so close together so they feel more like one big Gen that was debuted in installments?

I don't NijiEN so I can't tell you. The Senpai-Kouhai dynamic isn't really that noticeable anyways. It's usually utilized like a joke or a shield from a joke. The Irys and Kronii/Bae gag that happened is an example where the power is reversed between Senpai and the Kouhai. It's funny and Council can do it to her because of 1 month gap.

Even before wave 3, you can already smell the stench of desperation from them branching out to new things. ASMR, piano, unarchive karaoke, Collab spams, ark, Minecraft spams etc (I'm on mobile so I can't list everything). The latest desperado was Pomu's shower stream. Then you get these so called FR, ES, RU streams out of nowhere when the branch is called EN for a reason. Streaming during primetime JP for wave 3. The problem with the waves coming so quickly is the streamers aren't really having time to settle in and find their groove, and in turn their audience. People forget Ina settled into her timeslot and grew her audience over a year until she was #2 in ccv. I feel like it was at least 6 months before the Myth girls really established their identities, arguably even longer than that. But when new gens are being pumped out so fast there's no time to explore and experiment.

One also has to consider stress and burnout as possible issues in the future if not already. Everyone from Myth except maybe Ina at one point or another ended up in a rather bad rut. NijiEN is streaming almost daily which I think is because they don't want to lose the audience they already have, especially with waves coming in every 3-4 months. Sooner or later, the stress from that is gonna add up.

It feels like Nijisanji is trying to just hire experienced streamers so they can skip the "learning how to stream" phase that Hololivers go through and hope their fans as indies latch onto their new NijiEN identity.. Thing is that this phase is in my opinion, crucial to creating hardcore fans.

From the company's perspective, as long as each girl is profitable (and it's hard not to be) just throwing out more girls makes sense. On the flip side Hololive seems to do a much better job of developing talent so perhaps they have a long-term advantage. Suisei is a great example, that girl went from using something out of a Flash animation to having multiple henshin on stage during her 3d Sololive. A good example is Irys. She was kind of timid at first when it comes to singing and streaming, Her sched was all over too because she was experimenting a lot. 3 months after, many have her as part of top 1-5 for EN streamers. She has covered over 100 songs in her Karaokes. Many chuubas can't really do what she does on a monthly basis, let alone in a weekly basis like she does. You have to give the chuuba the time to settle in and get comfortable and potentially see the growth. That's how you get long time gachis. The "idol journey" I guess.

Someone from Suisei's general posted a question to the rest of the Hoshiyomis asking them if Suisei would still be their Oshi if she kept her level of singing but didn't have to go through all of the shit that she did to make it this far. Almost all of the Hosiyomi's said that they'd still be fans but Suisei probably wouldn't be their Oshi. I feel like that's the same enjoyment that hardcore sportsfans experience after sitting through shiitty seasons and bit by bit seeing your team improve until they're finally good enough to win the big one.

I honestly thought Edengumi was gonna become Nijisanji's version of HoloFantasy (Hololive's golden generation) especially seeing the numbers they were pulling during debut week. Unfortunately, they kinda fell off though the guys are still getting good SC. In retrospect, HoloFantasy is probably the best Gen/Wave to debut in Vtuber history. 3/5 are Juggernauts in either CCV or SC while the other 2 aren't slouches either and would be in contention for the title of top talent for any Non-Holo and most Niji-Waves. Crazier still is they actually got close to replicating that with HoloMyth. In terms of ranking Gens it has to be:

It was not that. They have a base salary from the get go, Haachama even mentioned it when she said she got demonetized for about one year and still had the salary (Holotalk? Maybe, or mengen, I don’t recall)

The thing is: any merch you produce yourself you pay from your next paycheck and Kanata produced those rag shirts, that’s why her take home was low as she described; it was salary minus what she advanced to produce her merch.

Fall is when Scatman, the Azure Lane collab and many of Matsuri's infamous 1 million + view clips come from.
By August 2020, Fubuki had settles into her more assist heavy role in Hololive (was still making shorts) and Matsuri had accomplished everything, wanting to just play Apex.
Haachama already didn't feel like a Gen 1 by that point but completely in her own part of the world, barely interacted with Gen1, or Holo EN Gen 0.

On the other hand i've also been questioning how effective in promoting these online ones have been, which were most during the pandemic.

This because the pattern was the same:
Con going on on some twitch or YT stream to 1-4k viewers
Myth shows up, jumps to over 10k
Myth leaves, down to a bit over the original 1-4k
not very much audience retention, more like the Myth fans catching a stream on a different channel

In the online sphere, HoloEN is way more popular than any anime/weeb convention in the world, so they don't get that much new reach by appearing there.
Also, their style of streaming is what fans are here for, so t's very hard to get people interested in the rest of the event.

Same thing happened with Korone's appearance on Sonic's stream really, but at least there they keep tweeting about each other and collabing past that event.

This is actually true to a certain degree. As google thread autist would tell you niji is more popular than holo by about 3 to 7% more and the gap is decreasing. But its bump limit so I should feel outraged.

Twitch wants high numbers to promote their streamers. Fanbases are their primary income source. YouTube doesn’t give a shit about streamers really. Their primary audience are the corporations buying ads. They are incentivized to keep numbers low. Comparing them is sort of pointless

Sure. YouTube is huge. I’m sure the streaming division would like to grow. But if the algorithm fucks them the head office doesn’t care. Ads make literally 100 times what streamers do.
