It was a janky mess, but Miko herself made it absolutely memeable and useful due to her personality, painstakingly built fanbase, and honestly the associated history. This isn't even due to the equipment itself, but because its her, the streamer, whose personality and natural growth promotes even far flung cambodian rug beating forums like this one into using reaction pics like pic related. If you're a boring streamer or look forced though, all of that gear is wasted. Even Kizuna Ai has top of the line gear, and she is not a very competitive streamer these days, relying more on past glory than anything else. The personalities of the streamers, and if they want to take on Hololive then the overall chemistry, will be the absolutely most important thing, with clipper friendliness being a distant 3rd to that and personal talent. Even the scummy route of saving permissions for their exclusive use to 'force' people to watch them for lets plays will likely just backfire into anti campaigns and bad blood with the general vtuber community. All that gear though will be extremely useful for events, like concerts with singing and dancing, or perhaps skits, but that's step 3 or 4, when there is still the question whether they can get through step 1 and 2. No one is gonna care about top tier technology concerts if the person is a literal who or boring. If they try to build their popularity through manga and light novels first, then they have gotten the order wrong, and are essentially leaving the vtubers themselves trapped into acting roles, far more than Hololive talents are for example, and will come off as ingenuine. Basically that gear is a waste of money right now, and meaningless in their ability to compete with Nijisanji and Hololive. s talents rely on, the strength of their talents, and the strength of their 'box'. So far, they have not impressed on those factors for a long time, and without those it all comes to nothing, a giant waste of money. Granted, they have the money to waste (but someone's head will still roll if it is wasted in such a fashion).
