>>12387022The minecraft channels on discord are no longer for discussing minecraft. They’ve become a way for beatani to chat with her friends in a way that makes it difficult for the outsiders to join. The topics she discusses and the way she talks in there are a lot more personal than in anywhere else. It's also where her collab partners are decided. After all, why would the outsiders' opinion matter on the topic (or on any topic, for that matter)? Although, she already let her friends on a private channel choose what she wrote to pippa months ago. When it comes to the threads, while she reads them, she has intentionally ignored anything posted on them for a long time. She has even said she doesn't care about any feedback that comes from the threads. She knows there's no one left willing to give her negative feedback using his own name, so she's immune to any criticism. Any anonymous feedback she mocks and ridicules, often on the stream, which prompts everyone to join her in the act. Now she is abandoning twitter as well, which is shown by her not being interested in appealing the ban. Getting banned might have been her intention for a long time. After all, twitter is mendokusai. It's where she has to interact with the outsiders. It's where she has to check the annoying non-minecraft art and memes.
Beatani's community is more akin to a minecraft community than a vtuber community at this point. If you don't play minecraft, you're not part of her community as far as she is concerned. Her community used to feel like a creative community, but now she only cares about creativity within minecraft. She's not interested in checking her twitter tags, but she spends hours checking the creations inside minecraft. She doesn't even mind checking the same creations multiple times as long as it's inside minecraft. If you want your art to be noticed, draw it inside minecraft. We used to have creative events like the costume contest, but even those were moved to minecraft. During the summer festival, she let everyone send in their non-minecraft art (although, she didn't even check many of them), but even that was too much effort spent on those who don't play minecraft. Even gartic phone was moved to minecraft in the form of build and guess. Minecraft is her safe space. It’s where all her friends are. She doesn’t have to worry about the evil stalkers who observe everything she does, and she gets to spend her time with the good kind of stalkers who instead comment on everything she does.
Beatani could solve the issues if she wanted to, but she doesn't. The direction we're headed at is the opposite. Maybe she really did begin to stream to make friends, so now that she has found them, she no longer wants the outsiders around. It's why she keeps pushing away the devoted non-friend viewers. It seems like she wants a few very close friends, and the rest of the fanbase she wants to fill with casual viewers who don't care enough about her to complain. Any viewers joining at this point are very likely to either leave or to accept the status quo in which they are the outsiders. I may be misremembering, but I think she even clearly stated that if you don't want her to befriend some of her viewers, you should leave. Even if she didn't say it, her actions make it obvious.
I've seen posts saying that there's nothing wrong with befriending chuubas, and beatani herself seems to have a similar opinion, but I strongly disagree. It's easy to develop parasocial relationships with chuubas, so it ends up happening to many people. However, it's impossible for a chuuba to become close to all their viewers, and obviously most chuubas don't even want to, so many chuubas end up befriending a selected few members of their audience. Consequently, the majority of the audience have to observe how the chuuba they idolize and look up to befriends the other viewers over time, while they themselves gradually become outsiders. Since it happens over a long period of time, it's very difficult for the outsiders to leave, as they are so attached to the chuuba and the community. I’d say it’s very similar to NTR. This is why I think chuubas should befriend chuubas, whereas viewers should befriend viewers. I don't think it's fair to say there's nothing wrong with a chuuba befriending members of her audience if she wants to, as the feelings of so many people are being trampled over in the process.
She has strongly implied there'll be an offline meetup. I believe it will happen after she has filtered all her early fans who didn’t make it as her friends, but who do care about her enough to get jealous watching her spend her time with those who did. The VRChat will be the final filter. The devoted non-friends will have to suffer by listening to her voice chatting with the friends, and she’s probably hoping it’ll make them finally leave. After that, she’ll finally be able to meet the friends offline. They’ll have a great time flower viewing in Hokkaido together.
