James hasn't steered the ship in a while now and he doesn't really care anymore.
The sad fact is that modern James/vtuber collab would really be something like

He doesn't care anymore or wants to do it as anything else than a paycheck, and he'll drive it into the ground for as long as the train still goes on. This is very obvious.
