Coco literally made Kanata, there is no other way around it. PPT/Gorilla was all made by Coco, and the early accusations of her leeching was true. Kanata even today has not established herself as anything else than what Coco made for her, she would have been absolutely fucked in any other gen.

I like Kanata but I must admit, most her thing was just being the other half of Kanacoco. This is not to say she's BAD, but she kinda depended on Coco to bring out the most of her, like a manzai duo, so alone she feels a little hollow.

I have never understood how someone could be a Kanata fan. She's the most generic mediocre chuuba there is. That's on top of her obnoxious fake high pitched anime girl voice.
Anything you can get out of watching her you can get from someone else plus some actual flavor to it.

She hasn't had a creative stream idea in almost a year and just parrots off of whatever any other Hololive members are doing.
It sucks because I used to find her to be the 2nd most entertaining Gen 4 member last year with only Watame being the 1st, but nowadays I watch Flare more than I watch Kanata.

also from my perspective, shes actually one of the most "anime-like" characters in holo jp despite not acting like that. similar to subaru whos not even a nerd and yet is a very anime-like idol. shes like someone straight out of moe gag manga/anime. although id agree her expressions/humours are hard to translate. they are heavily culturally japan leaning.

That may have been true at one time but biggest issue is how solidified and entrenched the oshi fanbases have become. Its nearly impossible for any of the low rung to escape their tier nowadays no matter how much they reinvent themselves or jazz up their efforts. Towa is the closest thing to a success story and even her average viewership each stream has only gone up at most ~1000-1200 when averaged out.

Can't really tell nowadays whether someone is bland or exciting by their views now, its more a measure of gachikoi loyalty.
