Well first they must be ready at the same time, so there is a factor here.
Then even if there is only 120 players to be ready at the same time, for the both of them to be in the same loby and then in the same team, there is like 1/30000, so yeah, absolutely lucky

You didn't account for the number of people in masters. Essentially if you're of the same rank and you queue up at the same time you are more or less guaranteed to be in the same match once you're diamond and above

The most unlikely part is them queueing at the same time and who knows the real chances of that. They also need to have a similar rank.
If you try to do it intentionally with streamsniping for example then it's not that hard. The queue in APEX isn't that big and a lot of people will already be in a premade team so those don't count. It also gets easier the higher their rank is.
