You play as a psychopath with a loose grasp on reality as you rush through a level killing everyone as quickly as possible.
What makes Katana Zero stand out compared to these is how tightly it's designed, and how everything comes together to make the combat extremely satisfying.
It's also the only game where the equivalent to skipping a cutscene is literally telling the person your talking to to fuck off until they leave you alone. For such a minor part of the game it's dialogue system is incredible, and it compensates for lack of voice acting with all sorts of neat tricks.
