A Groomer would initiate conversation with the victim, and begin to build rapport and trust with the individual. The Groomer will be someone the victim could rely on, confide in, someone they could open up to. The Groomer would usually do stuff like talk about sexual topics, introducing them to what sex would be like, describing things, shit like that. Might even show them pornography, maybe they'll engage in intimate personal contact, like hugging, or kissing, or massaging. The Victim feels like they have someone who will love them unconditionally and will accept them despite all their faults & insecurities. Hence the word, "Grooming". The Groomer is literally manipulating and possibly coercing their Victim into doing what they want.
Some examples: 25yo M messages a 16yo F on social media, the M begins to "flirt" and "sext" with the F, while F might be open to the attention and the prospect of a potential close friend, M is in it solely to manipulate and take advantage of F.
Sometimes it doesn't even need to involve sexual activity, a groomer could groom a 13yo F until she is 18 in order to pursue that relationship, which is also illegal and considered grooming, and in my opinion highly immoral and unethical.
TL;DR Groomers are the conmen of the sex world. Most of them are probably pedos as well.
