Women also statistically become less attractive as they age while men tend to appreciate in SMV with age. Women also care more about their partner's financial success than men do and select mates based on that fact, whereas men don't.
For all these reasons, men can (and often do) start a career and achieve workplace success when they're young and then start a family later in life. Women have a biological clock, yet are encouraged by modern society to do exactly the same things men do anyway, so they end up spending their best years working their asses off doing something which won't improve their social or sexual standing in any material way, then end up single, childless, infertile, and physically undesirable while the men around them are all off banging college coeds and starting families.
I have never, ever encountered a single, 40-ish year old career woman who wasn't utterly miserable.
