Open world PvP is just a schaudenfraude shitfest and if it's not easily avoidable it can quickly destroy the gameplay experience. It's far better off being contained to a separate gamemode like XIV, although I will concede that XIV's PvP is just garbage because it has never been a core focus of development.
If I want to PvP other people I don't play MMORPGS though, I play games that were designed around PvP with no PvE content. Something like Team Fortress 2, Apex, World of Warships (back when it was not quite so shit) etc. There are so many good options for PvP games where you can fight against competitive, willing opponents and people just want to gank and make others suffer in an MMORPG, it's sad.
