What were your expectations for Council vs. how they actually turned out?

I was expecting Mumei to be best girl. She had a rough start so I was worried for her at first, but to my pleasant surprise she actually is.

Kronii hasn't improved since her debut. I remember the comments people were making on here during her debut and the streams shortly after. Many of them were on the lines of "Too much dead air" and "Not enough audience interaction". When playing games she still goes quiet and cannot seem to grasp how to switch seamlessly between talking to her chat and playing the game. The rest of council have improved a lot in this regard. Especially someone like Mumei who acted like a rabbit caught in headlights for her first few streams.

Yeah you could tell Myth was getting fatigued with this whole walled garden thing where they couldn't interact with anyone outside of Hololive which has to get old after a while since there's so few of them. Council finally gave them some new friends so they don't have to be frustrated at their inability to interact with any vtubers outside the garden. Because now they have plenty.

I had no expectations but I still don't know if they deliver or not. Kronii is easily the worst entertainer of the gen, and she has a weird relationship with her chat that's constantly consuming her streams and it's so uncomfortable that I couldn't keep watching her. I think Fauna and Sana have the most potential long term, Baelz is too spergy and forced and I haven't watched Mumei at all so I have no opinion on her.

Could I get a QRD on this? I've watched her Superhot stream and some of her Frostpunk playthrough, but I wasn't very taken with her style, so I'd appreciate it as I don't want to scour through several 4-6 hour Minecraft streams just to understand why /infinity/ is so insane.

I think he's just referring to the awkward roleplaying she does, she's still too committed to playing a character and she doesn't know when to let a joke go so her streams don't exactly feel natural. Yet some people treat Hololive as if they're watching a TV show with actors and so you get a lot of weird behavior in her thread.

I was hoping for Fauna or Mumei to have a British accent but no dice. I certainly wasn't expecting two Aussies in one generation and did not expect Sana and Bae to be the ones with accents. I actually thought Bae was British at first because first I couldn't comprehend the idea of two Aussies in one generation and second her accent is pretty subtle. But then I listened more closely and realized she was just an Aussie.

I kind of expected them, maybe unfairly, to be on the same level of groundbreaking as HoloMyth. I thought we'd get some high spec musical talent, or at least entertaining streamers with genuinely memorable personalities, but I don't feel anything for any of them.
And call me a schizo for this but I really believe Kronii was a poor pick. I stopped watching her but every time I do tune in she sounds utterly disinterested and dead inside. Unless that's the point, I don't get how she passed auditions when there is so much good, not depressed talent out there.

Perhaps you only find Myth groundbreaking because it was the first big EN branch. The only thing they really did that was new ground for EN VTubers was becoming popular. I'm sure there are those who are like that. But there are also many that speak honestly with their criticism and what they say isn't exactly untrue. Kronii has flaws and being popular within her gen doesn't exempt her from them.

What made Kronii popular is her voice, artist, big tits, and self-deprecating personality. She also pandered ultra hard at her debut with memes and voice lines which helped her get the most clips out of council.

The most hype I had pre-debut was Mumei. She came off as a traveling nomad type that has acquired so much knowledge that she has lost her identity. Combined with her name literally being Anon gave an impression that she'd be Gura tier in terms of subtly dispensing memes and references while also having an amazing pool of games to play. Then when she came out retarded the whiplash hit me hard. Only been starting to warm up to her recently since she has been toning down the retard act.

The rest of the girls are more or less what I expected excluding the rat. I thought she'd be another Ollie but her being the calmest in Council was a nice surprise. Bae feels more like a HoloJP member than an EN one, but in a weirdly refreshing way. Don't really know how to describe it with words.

The popularity of an artist or entertainer has no bearing on anyone's judgement of her merit. There's nothing to reconcile.

I'll be the unpopular opinion in the thread and say it was a disappointment. The production view from debut including omega tranny brought up quite the expectation only for them just to be some caked up 2views from Australia with some lore thrown on top for some flavor. The most popular of the bunch has been carried by looks, voice, artist, and pandering up until now and (once again) breeds the worst of hololive fanbases. Unfortunately the rest are simply just mediocre and within weeks I stopped watching all of them. Unfortunate, but I'm no consumer and this is a mere opinion.

Mumei had the problem of both being scared of her numbers and management shutting down all her stream ideas, so she ended up flailing around a bit before finally finding her footing. Using the forgetfulness aspect of her lore to discourage her chat from running jokes into the ground and using the civilization aspect as a justification for whatever weird shit she was going to do or say was a smart move.

She's popular because her voice is not squeaky anime screeching; has the edgy Wada style (massive initial boost in subs); and knew all the memes to repeat. Also, the public simply doesn't know good streamers exist outside the bubble, and won't look. The rate of new subs is proportional to current subs unless the streamer goes on a long hiatus. Almost regardless of quality.

A lot of people on this board have a problem where everything has to be a competition with Hololive instead of enjoying the streamers on their own merit. Nobody is going to match Hololive's numbers, even if they didn't have the most exposure they also have too much of a head start. You should be watching someone because you like their personality but they don't know how to do that. That's why they don't enjoy streams and just go suffer in the numbers thread every day.

I did subscribe to them when their YouTube channels were revealed like everyone else, then I missed their debuts and kept telling myself that I would catch up with the archives. Time passed, still didn't watch them, and then realized I'm not interested in EN at all. I have nothing against the girls but there's already other Vtubers I watch on a daily basis.

I like them all. Mumei is my favorite by a long shot. Kronii has been a little bit disappointing but that's mostly due to some of her more recent game choices, I liked it more when she was doing Frostpunk and Hollow Knight. I'm not one to write people off for stuff like that though.

I'm also very glad their presence and chemistry have increased the amount of collabing that's been happening both within their group and with the other ENs.

She's pleasant and feminine without being a pushover. That makes the usual internet woman fucking RABID because it reminds her of what she could be if she'd cultivated herself more.

Cover's scouting department had a pretty solid track record up till now, so I'm just left confused as to how they dropped the ball so hard with this gen. Even Irys turned out better than all of them.
