So... apparently Cover is okay with them using fanmade models. And there are real 3D models that actually exist. So why don't Myth use those models instead of the crappy chibi ones?

They probably aren't allowed to stream with normal 3D models because management won't approve of it. Game mods are a bit different, so they're made an exception.

Blame rigid Japanese bureaucracy. The models and rigging have to be done through "official" channels, whatever that means, and everything has to be thoroughly vetted in paperwork. Even though there's plenty of talented 3D modelers and riggers who would do quality work for for free, Cover's middle management won't allow it because they have to keep up the pretense that they actually do anything.

To not spoil the surprise of the actual 3D full figure debut which makes tons of money. Pretty easy to understand.
Half of Cover's business model is creating fake scarcity (like certain collabs, totsumachis or 3D lives) so it feels like some spectacular effort to put together when 2 views indies pull them out regularly.

They're free to get use 3d models as long as they don't match the style of the L2d. Meaning realistic style or western cartoon styles are possible but shit like artgun would get rejected

Why ask for permission and risk dealing with two faced artists who might try to backstab you, when you can just commission your own model and side step any lawsuit/drama entirely? Even using Walfie models is risky.
