They're not wrong from an ultra pragmatic perspective. Vtubing is just a side hustle. What she needs is to figure out a career she can actually be passionate about, grow a pair, then pursue it with gusto to prove to her parents that while she's not following their plans, she's still willing to work just as hard and apply herself to make up for it.

As far as personal fulfillment and happiness go, that always comes from deep introspection being honest with oneself, and finding something meaningful to pursue. It's not just about what's appealing in the moment. It's all about where she wants to be and what she wants to be doing in 10 years if vtubing doesn't work out. The best thing she can do is clean her room and make sure she's moving towards her ultimate goals in life.

Unless she wants to be a diversity and gender studies major, in which case she should rope instead of becoming a public nuisance.

It's a sad truth that vtubing isn't stable but at the same time being forced into med school with no motivation is hellish.
I watch several chuubas who go to uni and still stream. Hopefully she can come to a resolution and do a non-expensive, non-mindbreaking major.

Don't forget the fact that she took out a loan just to save her model from MyHolo, because she loves vtubing that much. She's one of the best EN vtubers in the scene right now and to see her have to step away just because her parents are forcing her into med school is heartbreaking. Most likely this. Mio is very smart but it takes dedication and motivation to get through med school, which she obviously doesn't have. Not for her field of study or career path, anyway. I doubt the "motivation" her parents are giving her will be enough to keep her going.
