>>13447560It's hard for me to say how "normal" they are since I have mostly otaku friends and work at an otaku-centric company (localizing manga) so I don't interact with a ton of normies regularly outside a very professional basis, but they're at the very least taking off to the point where all my otaku friends know what they are and can name some of the bigger ones even if they aren't fans, and Kuzuha got randomly brought up at my work nomikai because a coworker was saying how nice it must be to stream games as a job and make millions.
But the collab goods at conbini and shit have become the norm. Vtubers are at the very least normal alongside the rest of anime and otaku culture, and the popularity is increasing exponentially if collabs, events, etc. selling out near-instantly is anything to go by. I had to join in the Nijisanji fanclub to ensure I can go to any concerts going forward.
