>>1370000>>1370002An artist on twitter who used to draw free shit for her before she was popular got upset when they were promised compensation and Uto either ignored or forgot about them. They were promised a $15 Amazon gift card, but Uto unfollowed and blocked them. Several months later, the artist messaged Uto and she kept her end of the deal. The artfag then posted their personal messages to twitter and JOP's noticed that Uto's initially friendly attitude changed after she had unfollowed them (she initially addressed them as "Chii-chan" and later spoke to them in a more business formal tone). This led her to gain the nickname "かしこまりましたちゃん", which is based off of the formal phrase she used often in their conversation.
5ch immediately jumped on this yab to expose her past identity, during which she had some drama with another girl in some gaming group. The details of this incident are pretty much a "he said she said" sort of situation, but Uto eventually left the group because of the drama.
JOP drama chuubas took advantage of this situation and began pumping out videos detailing the whole fiasco. EOP's most likely didn't watch the videos, didn't care, or defaulted to white knighting. The vast majority of hate comments on her Apex video were written in Japanese, likely from JOP's.
There was also a small incident with a musicfag who had complaints similar to the artfag, but he never followed through.
In addition, Uto's earlier videos had metatags with "hololive" and several hololive members' names. There was debate as to whether the metatags actually helped boost her popularity or not, but she became hugely popular with HoloEN fans because she shared the same artist mama as Ame. She was called "blue Ame" for a while, and clippers most definitely contributed to linking her name with Ame's. Uto was touted as being "Ame but seiso", but was quickly shut down by Ame when she called Uto a cousin and not a sister. Were holofags upset about Uto leeching off of their oshis? Possibly, but it was likely only a small part of the fiasco.
Now we get to the fake indie issue. 5ch autists figured out that there were some inconsistencies with Uto's story. She claimed to be an indie chuuba, and yet Nabi's profile stated that she did not accept requests from individuals. As it stands, there is no solid evidence to prove that Uto knew Nabi personally beforehand or if Nabi was contracted by Uto's company. The posts on reddit promoting her were also made by new accounts with little to no post histories. Utofags believed that the autists were making up schizo theories, but when Uto returned from her hiatus, she admitted that she had in fact been part of a company. The company had requested that she never talk about them on stream, and that she was to basically pretend to be an indie. At this point in time, she claims to be an indie but is likely still negotiating things with the company. We have no solid evidence at this point as to say whether said company is a chink company or not, but that was what the autists on 5ch were speculating.
That basically sums up the reason why she went on hiatus. I'm not trying to take one side or the other, but it's clear that EOP's and JOP's had quite a different experience. Whether that was due to cultural differences, language barriers, or a mix of both, we'll never know. Uto has been tweeting completely in English and complimenting overseas fans ever since the yab, which leads me to believe that the vast majority of her audience likely consists of EOP's now.
