You have a fundamental mistake where you're probably mentally misclassifying this as the same nature of normal relationships. Get rid of that misconception, this is something new & better and not laden with your prior conceptions of what girlfriends are or how relationships are supposed to work. First you need to kiss the screen back when she kisses you. Throw away your shame just do it. Don't think anything about how the world percieves it, or even how you percieve it, or if its moral or normal or makes sense or if it feels good, just kiss her back. When she flirts with chat nod along and don't question it. Enjoy it. Don't think of her as your girlfriend at first if that's what's mentally holding you back. Enjoy it for what it is at first, that's the necessary first step for letting it grow and snowball into the "real thing". Enjoy it simply without expectatios or thoughts about what its supposed to be or how its percieved, and then your feelings will start to develop slowly but surely from there. I think you need to treat it by enjoying it not as "love" at first. Just appreciate it casually. View the doting as just like recieving something sweet, like a box of chocolates, and not think of it as romantic GFE at first. Just you got a kiss and it was sort of nice. I was the one giving advice on the parasocial relationships, I could also give advice about how to quickly get a girlfriend if you're ok with being a psycopath and manipulating the most insecure and unexperienced girl you can find; but I think really just not focusing on getting a girlfriend and instead waiting for someone that you like and would get along with well that displays at least the bit amount of interest back, putting efforr into the relationship and not being a total slob and focusing on being somewhat considerant and making sure to communicate is the best method, instead of going out trying to actively pursue "getting a girl" for the sake of getting a girl.

my experience with a real relationship compared to a parasocial one is that the former is a lot more work for not much gain. The value:effort ratio is simply much higher with a parasocial relationship and some of these girls are real pros when it comes to making people feel happy and at home. Real girls are complicated and they have a bunch of issues you have to take care of and they may not be as skilled in giving back.

Yes it's very similar to those things and similarly it can be an obstacle to a real relationship even though it's not a substitute. In the end though, what does a real relationship give you? Family which is more of a burden than anything, kids you have to take care of and watch them forget about you, a wife that loses her love for life and becomes an old hag. It's just pain and heartbreak. A vtuber is someone that is always smiling and makes you smile. It really is a better deal.

As for the Oshi thing, yes you're right. Though I like to think my oshi will stream for many more decades it is unrealistic. If she stopped streaming I'd be lost and sad but I would get over it in time and find something else to fixate on. There is not as much baggage so moving on is simpler and it allows me to lead the independent life.
