/jp/ as a whole are unironic weebs that have always been biased against English speaking Western anything that emulates or borrows from otaku subculture, including vtubers. Until the massive popularity of HoloEN forced the issue, just trying to mention or talk about an unambiguously Western vtuber was seen as forcing off-topic or trolling by enough anons.
