>>14308014You see, Black Mesa ruins Xen by having it be habitable. In the original, Xen is an inhabitable hellscape for 90% of it's population. Only headcrabs, hound eyes, and bullsquids are even native to the dimension. Nihilanth, Vortigaunts, Gaurgantuas, Grunts, Those flying things, and
race X are all non native creatures, so for them Xen fucking sucks dick. It's inhospitable, it's got nothing for anyone except hostility and everyone wants to kill each other. That's why everyone comes to earth the first thing, it's hospitable, it's nice, it's friendly for all the life on Xen.
However, black mesa decides to make Xen a "Thriving eco system for everyone" which ruins it's purpose. Why the fuck would you leave a veritable oasis to go to earth which sucks dick? It's like leaving Singapore to go to Iran, it makes no god damn sense narratively. The devs just wanted to push their lighting engine in source and their "graffics" without intent for how much xen actually sucks.
Not only that, but Xen was short and sweet and for the most part didn't suck cock. So what did the devs do? Add more platforming (cause everyone liked that), add more puzzles, and add a shit ton more wire puzzles that nobody fucking likes because it's the only puzzles the smooth brain devs can even think of which makes the gameplay suck dick even more.
Xen in the original is FAR better than BM Xen
