Copyright in the music industry is utterly broken and disfunctional as has been proven many times. It's a symptom of this growing tumour we call late stage capitalism that has been and will continue destroy many of us and itself eventually. Hololive works under JRSCA and they can provide permission for west unarchvied stuff.
This align with some stuff moona said long ago that some changes were happening and they wont provide or can use the orignal instrumentals for the songs anymore. Including unarchive.
So they can still do unarchive but they will need to use the instrumentals from other sources which some already do.

Bittersweet Symphony maybe? That one was a very interesting case, because apparently the bit of melody they used was short enough to be under what's legally allowed, but since the band sperging about it were the fucking Rolling Stones, they charged the guy anyway. In the end laws don't matter if you have enough money.

I think at most cover would just tell them to sing things they have unarchived permissions for which is plenty enough. But might miss a few songs not sure initial D fall under there.

Sued for what exactly. IANAL but isn't the only thing they are legally obligated to do is process DMCA claims in a timely fashion. They don't need AI to mute or ban channels in real-time, they choose to do this to appease these fuckers.
