>>145344711. Got demoralized by drama and bad health this year and didn’t feel like attending her tutor classes anymore.
2. Further demoralized and lost the goal of doing English Only collab with Coco when she learned that Kaichou was graduating
3. Learning English only became somewhat serious for her during her rush to 1 million subs + her desiring to do collabs with HoloEN. She has lost the fire and now has seen she can get by well enough with what she knows now after Umisea.
4. Learning a new language has an initial heady period where it’s exciting until you hit the progress wall and it becomes more of an effort. Marine mentioned she didn’t enjoy her last tutor class as much as prior ones and that was before all the negative events this year.
5. Marine is a self-admitted poor learner, she went to an all girls Catholic school and had a leg up on her Holo peers in that regard back in the day but squandered it by being a typical JP student who has no interest in being a westaboo.
6. She probably saw diminishing returns in new overseas fans as HoloEN locked in their bases and worldwide COVID lockdowns ended. Probably didn’t want to fight for an audience segment that would leave anyways.
7. She is already wildly successful enough and overseas fans make up at most 5-8% of her audience. Not large enough to seriously learn a new language in her already busy schedule.
8. Probably feels she can satisfy overseas fans enough with short videos with EN subtitles, they are an easily pleased audience.
