I can't even properly describe the vibe of the board at around 2014-2016. /r9k/ memes used to actually go mainstream, do you remember the "rare Pepe" cancer? It was that, posts about people going on actual killing sprees, "roasties", "wagecucks", "tendies", MGTOW shit, people routinely just fucking disintegrating in threads about how much they wanted to off themselves. All in one big disgusting tent. People used to get into actual heated arguments over the specific requirements to count as a "robot", it wasn't a joke to everybody. There were men who actually made that shit part of their identity.
It was awful and all that but I've never seen site culture so vibrant. There's still boards with strong culture but none nearly as fast as /r9k/ was back in the day. Sometimes I kind of miss it. Seems like most of the most unique parts of this site were washed away post-2016, for good or ill
