Gens 2 and 3 were still fresh when the chuuba craze began in early 2020. Gen 4 came out at the end of 2019 too, granted, but Coco's influence caused them to be a bit more outside-the-box in their stream formatting. 2 and 3 represented the traditional pre-normalfag vtubing standard, which was fine and all, until suddenly with the world's eyes turned onto anime girls playing video games, every new generation received more and more hype, and their appeal of being the faces of corpo chuubing wore off.
The rrat part is that they're bitter about becoming much less of the 'face' of a thing THEY were largely responsible for, so they hold it against everyone who's come since.
The exceptions among the early gens are those who are super-reclined and collab with anyone who'll play with them out of desperation to not fade into obscurity (Azki, Mel, Roboco), Shuba (because she's probably the most-stable, non-menhera of Hololive overall and doesn't give a shit about petty squabbling)
