Dark elves don't feature prominently in any of that stuff. The JRPG style dark elf is tanned and kind of a dick, but not a black skinned, genuinely evil piece of shit who lives underground. They just didn't inherit that archetype.
Drow would probably be more interesting if it weren't for fucking RA Salvatore. Not his fault but ever since Drizzt made waves, writers and players both are more interested in this renegade good Drow horseshit.
