As for me I've been watching anime since the 90s and made some earlier attempts at learning the language in the late 00s/early teens, made some headway but never really got fluent. Chuubas reignited my interest to pick it up like nothing before because there simply was no easy alternative, it's all live on the spot with a couple translators attempting to keep up if you're lucky, and unlike anime there's no wait for subs option as nobody can freely english translate entire streams (they get struck by Cover actually, if people try) so you're limited to clips. Clippers functioning as translators also played a crucial part in Holo's pre-EN growth in the West, as in was almost entirely how it was even possible. Nowadays with ENs people are just lazy faggots but whatever.
