The sub culls are going to affect their long term growth, I think. Say what you will but big numbers = hype. Even councils hype got slightly deflated since their subs weren't as big as people thought they should've been due to all the culls. The worse part is that the general audience wouldn't really dig beyond the surface so they wouldn't be aware about all the culls. Worse case scenario is that this keeps happening long enough that the hype for them just dies because the west puts more importance on subs than CCV.

they have much more than expected. that akuma guy gets 40k sub a few days after debut. which is high. i expected them to have 10k-30k for the first month at most.

nijis maimoto and banderasu are popular but they still only have about 350k-400k three years after debut. male vtubers arent really for the mainstream vtuber market except for a few exceptions like kuzuha. they are rather niche for the most part.

It does happen, unfortunately. I have a female coworker with a channel where she documents the growth of her kittens. Got a respectable subs of 20k, and already she's complaining to me how her subs got cut down random. Sometimes by a 100, other times 500. There's even that one time where sho got a whooping cut of 2500. And this is despite the fact she routinely uploads twice a week.
So yeah, Susan makes no distinction. Just because you doesn't see it happening, doesn't mean normal Youtubers don't get culled.

If you think about it objectively, corpo vtubers get tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of subs before even debuting
Having more subs than views is very suspicious behavior
I wouldn't be surprised if what the cull wave does is removes subs from anyone who hasn't watched any of the channel's content, but subs anway. There are a lot of driveby subs involved around debut

I'm almost 100% sure Youtube keeps tabs of your watch history internally even if you disable it. That data is way too useful for them to just throw away. Disabling it probably only makes it inaccessible externally
