Niji has greater flexibility than most of those startups. Prism can't even open memberships until 15k subs(until recently it was 30k subs).
They also provide the support structure to assist their talent in organizing larger projects like collabs and special events and merchandise that the smaller ones wouldn't be able to provide.
It's basically a best of both worlds of having nearly the same freedom as an indie while also having the financial backing and connections of a corpo.

Most indies can't earn enough money to live. Joining a corpo is the fastest way to ensure you can afford food. They don't make as much money as they would at Hololive but at Nijisanji they make enough to be able to live, as evident by the fact that Pomu quit her job and Rosemi is quitting her job soon. I would agree if only regarding to the EN branch, JP side doesn't have any of those issues and seems like an ideal environment for streamers.
