most 1st world country sold rice in small vacuum sealed package. which make it much more expensive for the quality and quantity you get (but congratz you don't 'need' to wash it)
2. that being said, you don't always wash your rice. it's depend on what you use it for, washing it make it less sticky + more uniform shape which is not the case for some dishes.
