It just so happened that it was an integral part of her planned story (it was not "self harm" but a violent inner conflict between distinct personalities which could only be resolved with the extinction of one of them) so say

One of the funniest parts of the whole schizolore arc was when she teased about "#coexist" for the best part of a stream, then reenacted the DDLC

3) put a huge THUMP sound effect, as if it had dropped lifeless
Even seasoned Haaton got shocked by the boldness of that scene. It is something you won't see even in saw movies, the whipslash was too much.
