To summarize, I don't tend to see much of actual arguments on /a/ about them that don't look copypasta'd from either /v/ or /r9k/. In general the /a/ folk who were receptive to the idea are already here anyway. It took me over a year to get to really-like them and I had a long head-start prior to the big EN boom, starting back in 2018. So probably there are people who will eventually grow to like them but don't yet because they think they're trannies using voice changers or whatever unfathomably stupid shit the uninformed say about them.
Also, more of /a/ will eventually realize that if they wanted waifus then chuubas make anything ever on /a/ beforehand look like an utter fucking joke in comparison. I still like animu and mango but it's just a different spot in my head. The main overlap is that chuubas can often be a kind of moe/SoL comedy type deal and those are my favorite kind of anime yet always in short supply season to season, thus, chuubas took over for me.
