For hololive though you can almost guarantee they all make plenty from the people who blindly give them money that it's fine for those of us who think a bit more to not send them any. Heck, they also have chances to make money from sponsorships, which is supposedly quite a lot. If we were talking some smaller tumor without such a guarantee, then I could see your point, but they'd also more than likely also have some other donation method such as streamlabs, which would take a much smaller cut and not support Youtube/Google itself.
Personally I do just go the route of merch, and only stuff that doesn't seem to awful. For instance, I generally don't buy the massively overpriced shirts/wearables, but am more willing to buy the overpriced collectable stuff if I like how it looks. Shipping makes it harder to justify certain smaller things on their own though.
