I mean, it could also mean a third thing. That vtubers have had large amounts of spam viewers until now and they've simply been removed.

His earlier tweets were sort of iffy, but it doesn't matter. It seems his main focus is simply pointing to viewers that are waiting in standby, and then noticing a huge dropoff when the stream actually starts?
The latter tweet is them saying that there's been a huge amount of reports telling them that viewer counts have been lowered especially for vtubers, so they put some people to work on it. If the source is just vtuber viewers reporting, it doesn't seem like any acknowledgement of a bug.

I was under the impression that they already covered this as spam prior to Dec.3 but, hey.
Also, is there any actual theory as to why it seems to be affecting Vtubers more? One that isn't "lol they're just not counting US views for channels based in Japan". Has anyone done any numbers on other streamers that "encourage" high live viewer numbers and whether they had a sharp drop too? Or another way is, on Dec. 3, what channels were the ones that didn't experience a drop in live viewer numbers?
