They didn't like the fact that a foreign company had so much influence and either wanted Cover to kneel or be damaged enough that they'd be weakened and no longer able to compete. Given how posts that were trying to explain the situation were immediately deleted but inflammatory messages and rallying cries were left up, the timing of Asoul's debuts, and how the HoloCN branch released a message without consulting with Cover HQ, leads me to believe that the standard bug corpo ops were in play and went off 'mostly' without a hitch. I don't think they expected Cover to so cleanly and quickly dump the CN branch though, but BB still benefited since they no longer had to deal with Hololive having so much influence on their entertainment scene.
Like, I don't think people realize just how utterly corrupt and morally bankrupt some of these Chinese subsidiaries can be when they talk about this sorta shit.
