Yes you stupid zoomer, when a woman is breastfeeding she's unable to have kids at the moment as the body puts all resources into feeding the baby. That's why queens in the old days had their babies removed from the mother so the body assumed the baby was done needing to be fed milk so body processes went back to normal and she became fertile again.

Nobody thought that? Peasants had multiple kids and always breastfed. They likely didn't do it for the same reason people don't today, they thought it fucked their tits up. Also they could flex their wealth by having a dedicated breastfeeding servant, the same way they had servants to dress them and privy attendants.
