This year really couldn't have ended any better for HoloCHADS. Nijisanji's lame ass concert got copyright struck (Hopefully it stays gone forever). Also the viewership fell short of Hololive by 39 viewers ensuring Hololive's utter domination of December.

I said it in another thread, but again, VOD views and CCV are different metrics. You can't make any assumption about CCV by comparing VOD views unless you can be totally sure that two streams have the same, or at least similar level of viewer retentions.
For example, imagine this: there are two streams A and B, assume their durations are exactly the same and they don't gain any additional view after the stream is over.
There are 10 people who watch stream A. Because they are busy, they have to take turn to watch. At any given point, there are only 3 people watching it. As a result, stream A will get a peak CCV of 3 and 10 views by the time the stream is over.
Similarly, there are 10 people who watch stream B. However, since they have more spare time, or maybe B is more interesting, all 10 decided to sit and watch from the beginning to the end. Because of that, stream B will get a peak CCV of 10 and 10 views by the time the stream is over.
Both streams will have similar views (10), but B has 3x higher CCV compared to A - yet, there isn't any culling or CCV fuckery going on, it's just different viewer behaviors.
All in all, those VOD views comparisons are generally meaningless for /us/ if you are trying to use them to speculate whether there is a new CCV fuckery in place. We simply don't have access to a lot of factors (i.e: viewer retention, watch hours, etc.) for that.

Only channels with 5 streams or more qualify. Here is the top 50

Ten (10) comments about it:
1) Ayame once again took the whole month doing what she does best: selectively streaming at the exact moment for a big payout
2) He-Ayame closely followed her and would finish in the first place, but his last stream failed to secure 20k and he fell to 2nd place
3) Fubuki finished first in the "daily streamer" category (those with at least 22 streams in the month), outranking Pekora, Subaru, Miko, Laplace and Kuzuha
4) Out of the top 50 Hololive secured 35 positions while NIjisanji secured 15
5) Lize is once again the highest ranked Nijisanji woman with a 12k median. Mito closely follows with 11k but she lost her perfect record of never having falled below 10k recently and is relegated to #2
6) Kronii made a comeback this month and is the highest EN streamer after Gura, and the only other EN above 10k
7) Aruran is the streamer with the most streams this month with 58, closed followed by Koyori with 57, Lui with 56, Iroha with 55, Chloe with 51 and Fubuki with 46
8) 28 channels have a median above 10k, 11 above 20k but only 3 channels above 30k this month: Ayame, He-Ayame and Fubuki
9) Things seem to have increased and not only 5k doesn't put you in the top 50 anymore but 6k doesn't as well, with Furen and Baelz being cut off even having a median ahead of that number,

10) For the first time in the top 50 a NijiEN is featured
>Mysta Rias
with a 6k median, ahead of Baelz, Kiara, Sana ***and Selen*** and ranking this month as the highest ranked "minor" foreign branch (meaning all foreign branches but HoloEN which is a major one).

Her stream was overlapping with two giants (Holo's main stream and Niji's NJU), it's possible that people were having her stream playing on background and check in here and there, which resulted in lower CCV but the same amount of views
Again, I keep my opinion that /we/ need more data after NY period is over since there isn't any conclusive, beyond reasonable doubt evidence yet.

Here is the full ranking for December 2021 and ten (10) more comments

1) Vox Akuma, as well, finished ahead of Sana, being the second highest ranked NijiEN
2) Selen fell short of outranking Sana, and got outranked by Moona as well
3) Hoshikawa outranked Haachama, something I think hadn't happen for a long time (if ever)
4) Pomu, with a 2k+ median, outranked Elira, with a 2k- median
5) Astel outranked Finana, Millie, Petra, Nina and Reimu, along with Risu, Reine and Anya
6) Hajime was once again the lowest ranked NijiJP because the other low ranking didn't stream five times this month to be ranked
7) Hana Macchia lost another position and fell to #3 in the NijiID ranking, trailing Bonnivier Pranaja and now also Mika Melatika
8) With the absence of Bora Nun, Bonnivier Pranaja from NijiID now also outranks the highest ranked NijiKR, Roha Lee, by a healthy margin

I'm beginning to lean to the theory that viewers outside the typical audience region/language are more suppressed. This would explain why HoloJP and HoloID (look at Moona's latest unarchived for example) are most affected while HoloEN and NijiEN and NijiJP seem more normal. HoloPro (Hololive + Holostars) combined CCV and watch hour graphs for 2021.

Some notes:
- Coco graduation peak really sticks out. Pre-graduation buff is also visible in the peak graph.
- HoloX debut buff was huge for whole Hololive. Especially compared to Council debuts in August which barely made any difference in the graphs.
- Hours streamed was slowly trending down the whole but HoloX debut restored the streamed hours to January levels.
- Not counting the HoloX debut Hololive audience size seems very stable at monthly scale. HoloX debut did increase it but it remains to be seen how much.

I think that's a little bit reaching towards rrat territory. Why would YT bother making it that complex when they can just flag Ludwig account and have the system automatically give him 1.5-2x (or whatever they want) his real CCV instead? It'd have been much simpler to implement that instead of changing their CCV counting method entirely.
Additionally, changing how they count CCV will unavoidably affect many people, not just Hololive or Nijisanji. When streamers realize that their CCVs suspiciously and inexplicably dropped, they will raise a fuss - they definitely did last time. Why would YT want to do it the hard way and attract negative press? They are dumb, but surely they aren't that dumb?

How good the people are at generating hype is pretty important so try to set up the one that can do it the best at the very start and have everyone fully engaged, second best one should be semi-finalist with the biggest star at the end
Try to maintain good hype levels all the way through but consider sticking in period of peace in middle(slower songs, ballads and the like, everyone there should be good though) before ramping up to finale

It kinda makes sense to me, though. Starts with weaker members (Kiara, Sana) to get the audience warmed up first. Sprinkle some popular members (Kronii, Mumei) in between to attract and retain as many viewers as possible. Finish the relay with heavy hitters (IRyS, Mori and Gura). Fill the rest with others.

usually, before a stream starts and a wait room is set up, there's people that find the stream by non-conventional means, that composes the number of people in the wait room, this kind of people are hardcore fans that WANT to be there from the literal start of the stream, something that is exclusive to YT stream

Reminds me of the Rosemi comedy skit, took the entire show to hit waiting room. It also got delayed quite a bit and built up a big waiting room. I think that's the key to getting fucked over. Big waiting room and low incline after. You won't notice it in something that ramps up huge like an outfit reveal but something more modest that gets delayed or transferred like this relay will be hit hard.

Let's say there are 17k people waiting.
When the stream starts those windows/apps automatically start the stream. Presuming none of those 17k close immediately that should be 17k viewers right there. YT takes a while to process them but the viewcount used to exceed the waiting room within 10 minutes or so, see >>15600333.
In addition, any of her 600k subscribers who hit the bell icon will receive a notification on the YT website or on their phones, linking them to stream. Only a small number will be active and only a portion of those will click but that should push it up a few more thousand.
In addition, YT will start to recommend the stream on its homepage and app homepage. There are a variety of people who will get these recs but at the very least they will include some people who have watched her streams before, as YT has said on their Creator Insider channel watch history is one of the homepage slots.
In addition, bots in her fan discords will ping notification roles when the stream goes live.
Some streamers do starting tweets too (Kronii didn't this time).

All of this should add up to more than the waiting room, even if there's some number of AFK/ditchers, and even if YT takes time to process viewers. That means there are probably people watching who aren't getting counted in the live viewcount. How many and how exactly YT has discounted them we can't say.

Kiara's and Sana's waiting room to live counts were okay, or at least, more okay than Kronii onwards. After Sana ended (and started her new stream), there must be a portion of viewers who waiting room for Kronii+ but are also watching Sana, as proven by the graphs in the post above.

Guess who might get counted in the waiting room but never get counted in the live count, because they're already counted on Sana's stream?

True, but the thing to consider is that CCV this year is much lower than last year, like 30-40k lower for most of the stream.

Even if you compare VODs of different lengths, a 8 hour VOD with a 3k CCV is very different from a 7 hour VOD with a 10k CCV.

I'm surprised it's even close at all.
